Though originally denoting a bicycle intended for BMX racing, the term "BMX bike" is But now used as a generic term to include race bikes, Freestyle,  and 'dirt jumpers'.

  • Frame- Steel, Alloy or Carbon
  • Dirt- Thicker and wider tyre treads
  • Park- Lightweight frames with or without breaks.
  • Racing- (Breaks required). Lightweight and customisable gearing not aimed at trick riding.
  • Street- Heavy construct with axel pegs to balance on street objects. Usually have no breaks and the rider stops by 'booting' the back tyre.
